The White Peak SMTP Diagnostics program will be released to the general public next week, but before I release it I have been thinking about a name change. While SMTP Diagnostics definitely tells what the program does, the name is a bit geeky. This makes me wonder if I should use a different name.

How about it folks? Should I rename the program with a less geeky name? And if so, what name might you suggest? Or should I leave the name as is?

maybe you should rename it....but I don't have any ideas.

I think "SMTP" is a bit geeky, vs "Email Connection" or "Email Transport" or something in its place. BUT, perhaps your target market would think SMTP is perfect and that is what they are looking for (I'm assuming the average home-user isn't going to look for such a thing). I'm not sure how best to get an answer to your naming question aside from interviewing a few networking-type persons for input.

Also, when you get to web-optimizing for search-keywords, that is where you can use a multitude of related and relevant synonym names to help people find it.

I'll think on this one more and let you know if I get ideas worth consideration.

I've decided to leave the name SMTP Diagnostics since it works well for search engine keywords.
